PONY Baseball Player Representation in the USA Baseball 18U COPABE Junior AAA/18U Pan American Championships

PONY Baseball was well represented on the USA Championship team of the USA Baseball 18U COPABE Junior AAA/18U Pan American Championships in Cartagena, Columbia.

  • Alex Bregman: Albuquerque, NM. Attends Albuquerque Academy, will attend LSU in 2012.
  • Walker Weickel: Orlando, FL. Attends Olympia High School, will attend U. of Miami in 2012.
  • Jesse Winker: Windermere, FL. Attends Olympia High School, will attend U. of Florida in 2012.
  • Jeremy Martinez: Fountain Valley, CA. Attends Mater Dei High School, verbal commitment to USC in 2013.

Bregman had the highest batting average for Team USA, batting .570 throughout the tournament. In addition he was selected First Team All-Tournament team at third base.

Jesse Winker had the best ERA for Team USA, 0.00. His record was 2-0 with 9 strike outs in 10.1 innings. In addition he was selected First Team All-Tournament team as a pitcher.

Walker Weickel had the second best ERA for Team USA, 0.66. He also had a 2-0 record with 12 strike outs in 13.2 innings.

Jeremy Martinez was the starting catcher and batted .333 with an On Base percentage of .538 with 6 hits and 7 walks.
