(Washington, Pennsylvania) PONY Baseball and Softball is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Jim Arends, of Willow Springs, North Carolina as the new PONY East Zone Girls Softball Director. Dr. Arends was named today as part of a reorganization of PONY East Zone Girls Softball. Dr. Arends will represent PONY East Zone Girls Softball on the International Board of Directors.
“Jim has held leadership positions with PONY East Zone Girls Softball for many years and is a welcome addition to our volunteer staff as the East Zone Softball Director,” stated Abraham Key, PONY Baseball and Softball President and CEO. “I have the utmost confidence that Jim will continue and enhance the tradition of PONY East Zone Softball.”
A transition team has been in place and has worked hard to insure that a high level of service to our membership has been maintained. Members of the transition team include; Dr. Jim Arends, North Carolina; John Crovo, Connecticut; Michelle Berryman, Delaware; Steve Eisenstein, New Jersey; Bob and Judy Johnson, Virginia, Mark Fawver, Connecticut and Rich Mooney, Maryland.
“We are moving in a new more transparent and conciliatory direction,” stated PONY East Zone Vice President Terry Faust. “Jim will provide the leadership we need to move the organization forward.”
Dr. Arends has served as a PONY volunteer Field Director, North Carolina State Director, Region Director, Assistant East Zone Director and Director of East Zone Softball Nationals.
PONY East Zone Girls Softball was founded in 1976 and has been a leader in PONY Softball membership for many years. PONY East Zone Softball includes the following states; Connecticut , Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
